One spring afternoon on the Day of Humankind, Princess Shouyang strolled past blooming peonies in a flowing plum-blossom-patterned dress. Butterflies fluttered around her as her jade ornaments chimed gently with each graceful step.
The breeze was warm, sunlight filtered through golden silk curtains, and the scent of flowers filled the air. The princess dozed off under the eaves. A plum blossom, drawn to her beauty, fell from a nearby branch and landed between her eyebrows. The plum blossom fairy, touched by the moment, left a delicate stain on her skin.
When the princess awoke, she found the mark still there. No one could remove it. The palace attendants were fascinated and began copying the look—thus, the iconic "plum blossom makeup" was born.
